PETROLEUM REFINING IS 5% UP IN 2018 IN RUSSIA’S AUTONOMY OF TATARSTAN
The refining enterprises of Tatarstan autonomy in Russia increased refinery runs by 5% in 2018 to 342,000 b/d (17.1mn t).
In the total volume of industrial production of Tatarstan, oil refining accounts for about 22%. In addition to the increase in refining volumes, there was also an increase in the output of light oil products last year.
Petrochemical and chemical industry of Tatarstan increased in 2018 output by 3.8%, their share in the industrial production of the republic amounted 21.9%. The value of petroleum and petrochemical commodities loads from the Tatarstan refineries and petrochemical units totaled Rbls441bn ($7.035bn).
In the future, competition in the production of base polymers, including in the domestic market, is expected to increase. Therefore, first of all, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, it is necessary to implement the most significant projects of TAIF and Tatneft companies (the owners of Tatarstan refineries and petrochemical units), as well as to expand the range of petrochemical products produced through the creation of medium and low-tonnage production facilities.
