Ukraine’s flagship 240,000 b/d Ukrrtatnafta refinery switched from the beginning of July to production of Euro-4 diesel, the refinery deputy general director for development and operation Sergey Koshelyuk told OILMARKET. “We now have all volumes, but those ones supplied to the Ukrainian railways needs, meeting the Euro-4 requirements,” Sergey Koshelyuk said.
He added that in October the refinery starts production of winter diesel, meeting Arctic diesel standard with no warmer than minus 26ºC freezing point. “This will happen as we are going to complete by the then new de-waxing unit,” Sergey Koshelyuk said. He added that in September the refinery will start production of Ron92 and Ron95 gasoline blends with BASF detergent additives. The new improved blends will be prepared at the newly built gasoline blending facility to be completed by early September. He explained that although initially this is going to be Euro 3 gasoline blend, in December the refinery plans to start producing Ron95 meeting Euro-4 standard. This is shocking news for the Ukrainian market! According to Koshelyuk, the low sulfur high octane element will be produced at the refinery newly developed catalytic cracking gasoline hydrotreatment facility, or, as they called it at the refinery, section 200. The refinery also had started preliminary construction work to develop at the ground for its next stage project, new naphtha isomerization unit, aiming to boost the refinery high octane pool supplies.
